Take II - My Midlife Awakening

Jjlearning2006I know my posts have been few and far between on this blog lately but I have been asked to write an article for Rosa Say's Talking Story Blog to be included in her Joyful Jubilant Learning Forum 2006

My story kind of tells you why I haven't been posting much lately.  If you care to know you can read it here.

Take a minute to go on over and check it out.  There were 26 other authors that each wrote a post for the forum this month and they are all excellent.

Have an awesome day!

Don't Quit

I found a great peom online today that fits right with my post on Monday.  The poem is called Don't Quit and I found it at the Out of Bounds Blog.  I know I have seen it before and I appreciate finding it again.

Take a minute to go read it now.

You can achieve it!

No matter what it is that you want, you can achieve it.  I was thinking about this some more the other day and it dawned on my that we really can have whatever we want.  There is no limit to what the universe can bring to us.  If anyone else has been able to be, do or have something then we can have it too.  Anything is possible.

I think the problem lies in our own beliefs and actions.  Sometimes we really want something but don't believe we can have it or deserve it.  Maybe we feel like only the smart people or only the beautiful people deserve it.  That simply isn't true.

Other times we just don't stick with it long enough to see the fruits of our thoughts and labors.  I know this has happened to me before, on more than one occasion.  I get started on a project and then something happens to discourage me and I give up and start something new.  I didn't even give the first idea a chance.

I have learned from this lesson.  I now have two primary projects that I am working on and will continue to do so until I see the fruit I am looking for.

Take a look at your own life.  Have there been times when you gave up too soon?  Have you had the thoughts that you don't deserve to be wealthy or to be with the perfect mate.  Only you can change those thoughts.  Begin right now where you are.  Take note of the circumstances in your life so you can refer back to them a year from now.

You can achieve it!

Expecting a Miracle

When we were in Kansas City a couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of having dinner with John Jantsch of Duct Tape Marketing fame along with his wife and a dozen other people there for the weekend to learn to be Authorized Duct Tape Marketing Coaches.

One of the things that John said at dinner was that every day when he wakes up he expects a miracle.  That has stuck in my mind since I heard it.  It is a fantastic way to look at life.  It sets in motion the Law of Attraction and actually brings about the miracle that you are expecting.

Since we got back I have been focusing on this thought each morning - "God, what kind of miracle do you have for me today?"

Let me tell you that he hasn't let me down.  Each day something has happened that I totally didn't expect.  People are calling me out of the blue to buy software.  Deals that I thought were dead came back to life.  People are calling for upgrades each and every day.  All of this in a time that is traditionally pretty slow in our industry.

Try it for yourself.  Wake up each day expecting a miracle and when something happens be sure and write it down and give thanks for it.  You have just experienced a miracle!

Giving For The Sake Of Giving

Ann and I had a pretty good discussion last night on the topic of giving.  My stance is that I like to give regardless of whether that person gives back in any way.  We have been blessed with abundance and I really enjoy giving gifts, taking people to dinner, taking friends to a ball game, etc.  The feelings I have are my payback.  I don't really expect anything in return except a little respect and friendship.

Ann is with me part of the way on that but she gets frustrated when we continually give to people who neither give appreciation in return or make any attempt to reciprocate.  They talk big but when it comes down to it, they don't do anything.

Ann's stance is that she gives to enhance the relationship.  However, when she does that she expects to receive in return.

I believe that we don't necessarily receive from the same place or entity that we give to, but that the Universe will ultimately balance everyone's account accordingly.  Not only that, I believe that we will receive 10 times more than we give.  So there is no such thing as giving too much.

Let me know what you think.

8 Practices to Better Manifestation

This morning I read a post over at StevePavlina.com called Disciplining Your Mind to Become Better at Manifesting.  In this article Steve explains eight practices he uses to control his mind and improve his ability to manifest the desires of his heart.  Take a minute to read the article now.  He is much better at explaining these practices than I could be.

Steve is clearly a student of the Law of Attraction.  Many of his thoughts and practices appear to be directly related to those of Abraham-Hicks.  As I have mentioned before, my wife and I learned of Abraham-Hicks about a year ago and it has transformed our lives.  We have improved relationships, made more money, and improved our health all as a result of focusing our attention on the things we want and not on the things we don't want.

Take some time right now to go read Steve's article.  It really can change your life.

A Rampage of Appreciation - Day 3

Today I am appreciating my wife.  She is an amazing woman if for no other reason than she puts up with me and has for the last eight years.

She is wise beyond her years mainly because she is always asking questions.  She is curios about everything and never quite satisfied with the status quo.  She is also fun and witty.

She has a very balanced personality.  She is perfectly content sitting at home painting or tending the flowers or cutting the rug till all hours of the morning.

She is open to new ideas and new experiences.  From horseback riding to Nascar racing, she is always ready to go.

She loves to travel around and see new places, which is also right up my alley.

Not only that, she is absolutely beautiful.  Sandy blonde hair and brown eyes like a doe.  She has a  smile that can melt butter, not to mention my heart.

Ann, I love you!

Have an awesome day!

A Rampage of Appreciation - Day 2

Today I am appreciating my job and everything about it.  For those of you who don't know, I sell mortgage software for a company in Dallas, Texas.  I have been doing this for almost eight years now.  It's not what I want to do for the rest of my life, but I really enjoy it.

I may not be the best salesperson in the world but I work on that every day.  I listen to tapes and cd's, I attend classes, I read books and apply what I learn all in an effort to improve my selling skills.

My job has given me the opportunity to visit places throughout our country that I would never have thought to visit.  I have met the most amazing people in all corners of our United States.  It has also made it possible for my wife and I to visit a few places outside of this country and experience other cultures.

I appreciate my boss because he gives me guidance without micro-managing me.  As long as I am productive and I am bringing in sales, he pretty much let's me do my own thing.  I like that alot.

I appreciate the owner of our company because she really cares about her employees and her customers and she does what she can to make everyone happy.  She runs a pretty tight ship and I have learned a lot from her just by being in the position I am in.

I appreciate her dad who founded the company because without the foresight and hard work that he put in at the beginning, we wouldn't be where we are today.

I appreciate all of the other employees as well.  Without their support we wouldn't have the good reputation we have today, which would make my job infinitely more difficult.

Take a minute today to write down all the things you appreciate about your job.  I know not everyone likes their job but surely you can find a few things to appreciate about it, if nothing more than it provides you with a regular paycheck.

If you really can't find anything about your job to appreciate then make a list of all the things you would like in a job and start looking for one that matches your wants and needs.  You just might be surprised at how quickly it shows up.

Have an awesome day!

A Rampage of Appreciation

I've been thinking about this for several days now, maybe even a week or two.  Over the next few days I am going to focus on nothing but appreciation.  I am going to become acutely aware of all the positive things in my life and I'm going to share them with you through this blog.

Why would I do this? Simple.

When we focus on the things that we appreciate, we get more things to appreciate.  Suddenly life seems a bit more upbeat.  Positive things begin to happen with increasing regularity.

As I write this I am on an airplane travelling from Dallas to Phoenix.  I appreciate that the airlines exist to get me from one place to the other in an efficient manner.  They allow me to do my job in a more effective manner.  In sales, face to face communication is very important.  A phone call is good but nothing is better than being able to look someone in the eye, especially when you are thinking about buying software from them and its going to cost you $50-60,000.

As of about two months ago, I have flown over one million miles on American Airlines.  Yeah, there are some things I think they could do better but overall I am thankful they are here and appreciate all they do for me.

Find something to appreciate today and share it with us.  Your observation could be just the inspiration that helps another person cross over from a feeling of frustration or despair to a feeling of appreciation.

Check in with me to see what I am appreciating tomorrow.

Have an awesome day!

A different perspective

Yesterday I talked about the impact on Americans of the rise in short term interest rates but I just want to make a simple point today.

If you will make it a priority to pay off all of your credit cards and only use them in an emergency, your life will not be affected as much by what the Federal Reserve, or anyone else for that matter, decides to do with interest rates.

Have an awesome day!
